Editing and Revising your Manuscript for the Marketplace with Farzana Doctor
You’ve finally written the last sentence of your manuscript and breathed a sigh of relief. Now it’s time to edit and revise this first-draft manuscript. How do you go about it when you’ve never learned how? This question, among others, will be carefully addressed in the Write Now Retreat focusing on editing and revising your next draft.
Over the course of three days of instruction and a rare opportunity for one-on-one consultation, instructor Farzana Doctor will introduce the basic elements of strong narrative, covering line editing, word choice, and deepening characterization. She will introduce you to strategies and writing exercises that might answer many questions raised during the editing and revision process: Do your plot problems seem unfixable? Does a character fall flat? Are there scenes that don’t flow smoothly? Is there dialogue that feels stiff and unnatural?
If you cringe at the thought of starting on your next draft, you’ll be in good company during this retreat with a supportive group of writers and an experienced instructor such as Farzana. With her understanding and insight, you will have the tools to hone your story further during the polishing stage and make your book market-ready and the best it can be.
This retreat is appropriate for novel writers editing first or later draft manuscripts, and writers wanting to learn more about the editing and revision process.
