Join us Wednesday August 10th from 10 AM to 10 PM for #CanLitPit
Attention Canadian writers! We are launching an event just for you!
Canadian Literature Pitch or #CanLitPit is a DigiWriting Book Marketing Agency social media initiative intended to increase the number of Canadian authors published and supported by Canadian publishers and literary agents.
On Wednesday, August 10, 2016, from 10 AM to 10 PM, Canadian writers with a completed and polished manuscript can post their pitch on Twitter for Canadian publishers and literary agents to see. If a writer’s pitch is favourited by a publisher or literary agent, the writer will follow the manuscript submission guidelines posted online or in the publisher or literary agent’s Twitter feed. To read the full rules, please visit our #CanLitPit event page.
We are also very excited to announce that a number of well-established Canadian publishers will be monitoring the feed on event day including Goose Lane Editions, Thistledown Press, and Book Thug. New publishers and literary agents will be added right up to the event so keep checking the #CanLitPit event page for the latest.
As we are a promotional partner with #Pit2Pub, we have seen firsthand how Twitter pitch events have helped hundreds of writers, with many receiving a publishing contract just by participating in the event. For example, YA & Children’s author Anna Kopp said, “From pitch to like, it’s exhilarating (and nerve-racking!) to see others interested in my work. The community is wonderful as well, re-tweeting and commenting on pitches they like to show support. And of course, I got a fantastic publisher out of it! I would recommend it to any writer – Twitter pitching really does work.”
To provide additional support to participating writers, we are also pleased to announce that a pitch workshop will be occurring on our blog! Beginning Wednesday, August 3, 2016, participating Canadian writers will have the opportunity to post their pitch(es) in the comment section of a special blog post on our website. Working together, participating writers will have the opportunity to provide each other with advice and tips to refine their pitches prior to the official #CanLitPit event.
