Jen Agg Keeps her Answers Short, Sweet, and Hilarious
From October 27-29, in collaboration with the Stratford Chefs School, we are pleased to present the Appetite for Words Festival. As a twist on a traditional literary festival, the Appetite for Words Festival will provide guests with the opportunity to use all five senses–most importantly, taste–as the words from presenting authors’ books come to life!
With the festival rapidly approaching, we caught up with author and restaurateur Jen Agg, who will be the subject of a literary dinner on Sunday, October 29, at 6:30 pm. We asked her about which part of the writing process she finds the most difficult and more!
While Jen’s literary dinner is now SOLD OUT, tickets to other Appetite for Words events are still available including:
- A “Taste of Canada” Literary Lunch with FEAST: An Edible Road Trip authors Lindsay Anderson and Dana VanVeller.
- A Quebecois-style Literary Dinner with Five Roses author Alice Zorn
- An Exclusive Book Launch and Literary Lunch with Laura Calder
- Literature on the Rocks: Book-themed cocktails at Junction 56 Distillery
- A Perth County Farm to Table lunch with author Jonah Campbell
Why do you feel it’s important to meet readers?
I’ll never get sick of people telling me they connected with something I wrote, or it made them laugh or whatever.
What aspect of the writing process do you find the most challenging?
Editing! Barfing our words is the easy part, making it read as ‘better’ as possible is trickier.
Challenging traditional patriarchal concepts begins even before a reader opens the book. Can you explain how the title is actually “a wink and a nod” to a common male vs. female stereotype?
I think it’s pretty self-explanatory.
From a reader’s perspective, what one aspect of yourself do you think they have been most surprised to learn about?
One tit!
Are you currently working on any new projects?
HAVENT I DONE ENOUGH??
Of Jen’s many restaurants, which one is your favourite?
